What in the world is CBD

CBD is the new cool thing. So cool that there is a company claiming they have Water infused with CBD and are making so much off of this product - but when you turn it over there's actually no CBD in the product at all! #WHAT Its crazy town out there because there are not a lot of regulations.

But what is CBD?

What questions should you be asking to know if the CBD is safe to use?

Can CBD be organic?

Here's what I learned!

What in the world is CBD?!

CBD stands for Cannabidiol. These are compounds that bind to the Endocannabinoid System receptors throughout your body. These receptors are in your nervous system, connective tissues, gonads, glands, organs and immune system. Your Endocannabinoid System is what regulates your appetite, pain, mood, brain, nervous system, and so much more! CBD and THC - both bind to receptors in different ways. When THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), binds the reaction sends a signal to the brain which is psychoactive (the "high" feeling). When CBD binds with the receptors it neutralizes the psychoactive effects of THC.

There are 4 types of CBD on the market currently. One is from the Marijuana plant and the others are from the Hemp plant.

1. Marijuana CBD contains THC, CBD, Waxes and Terpenes found in the plant

2. Broad Spectrum CBD contains lots of CBD, THC, Waxes, Terpenes found in Hemp

3. CBD Isolate is a purified isolate from Hemp. Because it has been isolates - it does not have all the properties it needs to be super beneficial in the body.

4. SMART Spectrum CBD contains Hemp CBD isolate with Terpenes, YL EO's and MCT Oil

Are Hemp and Marijuana the same?

Hemp and Marijuana are both in the cannabis plant family, however, Hemp is completely different from marijuana in its function, cultivation, and application. Fun Fact about Hemp: When we were a colony you were taxed if you did NOT grow Hemp because of how much it was used for supplies. Then one day someone decided they wanted to use their tree farm for supplies instead. So a law was passed where Hemp became "psychoactive" and illegal so trees could be used for the supplies.

What are Terpenes?

Terpenes are constituents of plants that communicate with nerves, support muscles, translate to a few different receptors, and enzymes, are anti-inflammatory and provide stress relief. They can affect the upper-level functions of our brain such as emotions, reactions, stress regulation, and memory recall. The activation of these receptors, which would have otherwise be dormant, opens the door to a wide variety of health benefits. YL essential oils that are high in terpenes are Helichrysum, Copaiba, Ylang Ylang, and Black Pepper.

Is CBD Addictive?

According to the 2018 World Health Organization critical review of cannabidiols, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.”

Is it Legal?

According to the 2018 Agricultural Improvement Act - CBD is federally legal in all 50 states if it is derived from the Hemp Plant and contains less than 0.3% THC. Now even though it is Federally Legal in the states, there are some local governments who have said we don't care and it's not coming here - so just do a quick google search to make sure it's legal where you are.

What about Drug Tests?

Hair, Urine and Blood Drug Tests look for THC. So as long as your product has no THC in it then your drug test will not fail. Now saying that - About 10% of all drug tests come back as a false positive. To confirm this as false positive the test will then be sent to a 3rd party for testings - because this happens so often

Can you find the test on the products to know how much CBD vs THC in them?

As we now know quality is started at the source. Unfortunately, most CBD companies typically lack quality control. Therefore they do not understand the plant, the oil, the law, let alone know their sourcing, nor their plant's constituents. This can lead to not knowing if the product is riddled with impurities, toxins, or synthetics.

How is it grown?

Hemp absorbs toxins out of the soil! It's a soil cleanser. So it is super important to know what's in the soil before planting. This way we know if the Hemp plant is goign to be absorbing heavy metals, lead, fertilizers, round up, or pesticides - those will go right into your body through the product.

What can you use CBD for?

Immunity Boost

Lower Anxiety

Various Types of Pain relief

Brain Support

Each product will work differently for each individual. Some are designed to help you sleep and some are designed to help you wake up - This is based on your body!

How do you use CBD?

Liquid drops are typically for oral use - A drop under the tongue for fast delivery into the bloodstream. They are also used for joint and muscles. Topical Ointments are typically for joints and muscles

Other questions to ask about CBD!

Is it mixed with a fat? For your body to process hemp it must be mixed with a healthy fat.

Where is the flavoring coming from? Is it chemical based? Is it synthetic?

Is the farm using social standards? Are they hiring ethically? Is the farm organic?
